The ABON® Sizer features:
- Low roll speed, high torque sizing principle. Nominal 15–76 rpm with rotating tip speed as low as 0.8 m/s in primary applications and up to 1.8 m/s in tertiary and quaternary duties — controlled top size with minimum fines generation across materials with a wide range of hardness’.
- Designed for the toughest feeds. Handles wet, sticky, fines-laden and high-intrusion materials including ore at UCS up to 450 MPa. Starts under full head of feed and tolerates tramp materials (flight bars, bolts, ripper teeth, timber) without catastrophic damage.
- Modular, configurable architecture. Shaft centres from 370 to 1,600 mm, roll lengths from 500 to 4,200 mm, centre or side sizing geometry, single, twin or quad drive formats — engineered for your material, feed size, throughput and end product size.
- Sizing teeth slide into machined shaft slots. Complete teeth and wear-plate changes are typically achieved within 1–3 operating shifts, without removing shafts from the main frame.
- Simple, direct-drive mechanics. Electric motor through fluid coupling and gearbox — no belts, no chains, no complicated auxiliaries. Self-contained oil reservoirs and sight-glass inspection mean daily service is visual only.
- Low infrastructure footprint. Low-profile geometry, low vibration and low dynamic loads reduce headroom, civils and structural steel — ideal for IPCC, underground and retrofit applications where conventional crushers will not fit.
- Engineered for lower energy and water use. Average power demand is 30–70% of installed power, with only short intermittent spikes. Minimum fines generation reduces the need for dust-suppression water, supporting operations in water-scarce regions.
- Decades of continuing tooth development. Ongoing R&D on tooth profiles, spacer designs and wear materials extends consumable life and reduces cost per tonne over the life of the asset.
- Asset Health condition monitoring. Optional digital monitoring of vibration, thermal condition, oil level and analysis, power consumption and motor speed — enabling a shift from time-based to condition-based maintenance.
Centre sizing for primary and large-feed duties
In centre-sizing ABON® Sizers, the rolls rotate inward toward the centre of the chamber. The combination of aggressively shaped teeth, low roll speed and high torque grips and processes large feed lumps — including ROM material up to 1,600 mm — and reduces it to the specified product size through the controlled void formed between the rolls. Centre sizing is the standard configuration for primary duty across iron ore, overburden, coal, bauxite, nickel laterite and cement applications, and is the platform for the largest units in the ABON® range, up to 14,000 tph.
Side sizing for secondary and tertiary duties
In side-sizing ABON® Sizers, the rolls rotate outward against the chamber sidewalls, which are fitted with replaceable wear plates. The product top size is set by the geometry of the teeth, the spacer arrangement and the gap to the sidewall. Side sizing is the standard configuration for secondary and tertiary duties where a finer, tightly controlled top-size product is required at high throughput — for example in coal preparation circuits and ahead of downstream classification screens, grinding mills, and scrubbers.
